Make a backup copy of the existing Eco Warrior Classic system.

Look for the Eco Warrior folder which is usually located in the root directory of the C: drive. e.g. C:\\EW_8b. Copy this folder to a portable hard drive or memory stick.

2. Install Eco Warrior Pro

Follow the usual installation procedure and activate the software.

3. Configure Eco Warrior Pro

Configure the new software with the required site name and ID. This does not need to be the same as the old system. Note that the IDs are now four characters instead of two on the classic system.

Add devices to the configuration to accommodate the circuits from the old system. You do not configure the individual circuit names at this time.

4. Connect the backup drive to the new system.

Ensure you can “see” the EW folder on your backup drive. Note that if installing the new software on to the existing Eco Warrior computer that you could use the existing folder location of the Eco Warrior Classic installation. Keep your backup copy safe.

5. Import data into Eco Warrior Pro

At the main menu:-

Point the mouse at the logo on the right and while holding down the Ctrl key on the keyboard press the right button the mouse to bring up the hidden menu.

Select “Import EW Data” with the mouse and the window show below should appear :-

Select Import Data Format “Eco Warrior classic” and enter the directory path to the Eco Warrior Classic folder on your backup drive or the existing PC. The example above shows the backup copy located on drive D:

Click on the button labelled “Get Circuit List”.

The “Select circuits for import” window shows all the circuits found on the Classic system with the pulse circuits enabled by default. The status window summarises what was found and lists any errors detected e.g. unrecognised circuit types.

Note that unused circuits on the old system are also selected for import. The selection does not indicate whether a circuit is enabled or not, rather whether the circuit should be copied across to the new system.

The “Overwrite circuit definitions….” selection enables the original circuits to be mapped onto specific devices or circuit locations within devices. By default the first circuit of the first device is selected. This process can be repeated to re-order one or more circuits to different devices if required.

Choose the required start and end date for data to be imported. Note that the end date defaults to the most recent full day of data. It may be appropriate to change this to today’s date for example.

Using the mouse, click on “Import Date Range”. A popup window stating “Done” will appear when the import has completed.

Quit from the import function.

6. Configure Circuits

Enter the configuration mode again and amend the circuits as required. For example the circuit names may now include more characters than on the Classic system. Deselect any unrequired circuits

Virtual circuits may be imported but the calculation formulas will require redefining in the associated Calc field of the device settings window. Click on the Help button for examples of virtual circuit formulas.

Click on “Ok” to save the new configuration.

Job done!

(Thank you Oliver for this one) 1.
